The WK Statesman / Caprice are based on the VY Commodore platform, stretched by just over 200mm.
The WK will debut a couple of local firsts, including active front head restraints which are said to reduce the risk of neck injury or 'whiplash' in low-speed rear impacts. Caprice will also come standard with headrest-mounted rear twin DVD system complete with headphones and remote control.
Holden has tried to increase model differentiation in its long-wheelbase models, creating "an individual Euro sports character for Caprice". Caprice now gets a more powerful 245kW version of the Gen III alloy V8 engine along with a stainless steel dual exhaust system. Suspension modifications, steering changes and lower profile tyres further differentiate the Caprice's "more sporting driving dynamic."
The WK is also exported to the Middle East and badged as a Chevrolet Caprice.
